Yesterday morning Aleah woke up, looked out her window and started yelling, "I'm so excited! I'm so excited!" When Brian asked why she said because the snow was melting, it was warm and soon the flowers would be coming up! Brian wholeheartedly agreed (he was excited it got up to 55F yesterday).
Aleah keeps asking when the flowers will come up and everything is measured it terms of that event. When will the baby be born? After the flowers come up. When is her birthday? After the flowers come up and die again. Disappointing.
She prays regularly that the flowers will come up. Last year she would spend hours outside picking dandelions, clover and a pretty purple weed flower. She would just sit there humming and talking to herself. This year she has plans to plant a garden full of flowers.

That's so sweet! I love when the flowers come up too. It's my favorite time of year!
Maybe your last name has something to do with her flower love? Does "gardunia" have ANYthing to do with gardenia? That picture is adorable--is it from last year? I can't believe it got up to 55 degrees. Heat wave.
Yes, it is a picture from last year - and Gardunia has nothing to do with gardenia. It's some Basque word that means something like thief and it looks like one of Brian's great-grandfathers took it on as an alias. Funky, huh?
