Aleah has been telling me for months that she wanted to be a pioneer girl for Halloween but I had forgotten Emily wanted to be a Quidditch player (crimson and gold, please) until last week. On Wednesday we made part 1 of her costume.
After gathering all of the straight sticks we could find I hot glued them around a tree branch. Not too bad.
Not quite a Firebolt but it will do. We decided to call it a Clean Sweep 7. (I can't believe how grown up she looks!)
What's wrong with me, Leila? I am feeling overwhelmed by costumes this year, whereas in years' past I have been excited to make them. This year I keep wishing that my kids wanted to be costumes you can buy. I dread making Sokka and Aang costumes. And they're not even that complicated--it's just one more thing.
Speaking of which, you and Brian and your two (or three) oldest would LOOOOOOVE Avatar: The Last Airbender. I guarantee.
I feel overwhelmed too. Luckily Aleah (impressed with the broom?) decided to be a witch instead of a pioneer girl (I already have a witch costume) and Colleen wants to be a princess (I will have to alter and mend a dress we have for her - and maybe make a cute pointed princess hat). So Emily is the only one I have to make something from scratch for.
I don't know why it is such a big deal. I think I just don't like the first step of cutting out. What a pain to find the right pieces, alter the pattern in this case, find pins and scissors and finally cut. My least favorite part - except maybe for zippers.
Your boys are going to look soooo awesome. I still remember going over to your place for a Halloween party in TX.

The broom looks amazing and perfect, by the way.
We love the TV show. I was unimpressed by the movie trailers. Was it good?
