Visiting Nana and Grandad

The VERY EARLY morning after Brian and I got back from Iowa the girls and I left to go visit my parents in Washington. Some highlights of the trip include:

Emily learning to ride a bike with Uncle Blake's help. At last! We had a combined Blake's-early-Birthday-and-Emily-learned-to-ride-a-bike dinner that evening at Montazuma's, the family's favorite mexican restrant.

Getting a grandparent's zoo pass and going to the zoo twice! Once with Nana and once with Grandad and Eric.

Aleah, Emily and Eric in the "eagle's nest."

The tiger - the only thing that really tempted Eric to go to the zoo at all.

Colleen screaming at anyone who picked her up - especially Grandad. I think four days at the Cooks followed by a week somewhere else made her more wary than normal. She did really get into the groove of running into the bathroom when I said it was time to change her diaper (better than at home where she laughs and runs away) and even walking to her bedroom by herself and waiting to be lifted into the pack-and-play for nap time. Nice.

Emily and Eric wrestling for an hour or more Sunday afternoon. Emily won.

Playing games with the family including Perfection, Life (I just can't play it - jobs, bills and insurance aren't fun, they are real life!), Pirates Cove

Getting to go to the temple. It was so nice to be able to drive up and back and visit IKEA in less than 6 hours. Aleah would have loved the temple grounds. They were covered in daffodils and crocuses.

Sewing Easter dresses for the girls with my mom. We even sewed a baby one for the new baby (we wouldn't want her to feel left out). I'll post pictures of the girls in their dresses later.

It was a good trip but it is good to be home too. By the end of our stay the kids (esp. Emily who refused to sleep in) were getting really grouchy and tired. Hopefully they will all adjust back to Indiana time well.

Thanks for the good time Mom and Dad!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sad that I missed you! But I sort of had a baby and all, so that'll mess up anyone's plans. ;) Glad to hear you had a great time back in the ol' Harbor.
