Good Parents or Good Nursery?

Up until yesterday Colleen's repertoire of words consisted of Mama, Dada, (t)ickle-(t)ickle and cow, dog and pig noises. Yesterday Colleen surprised us by doing the rolling motions to "Do as I'm Doing" and "Head, shoulders, knees and toes." We rarely if ever sing "Do as I'm Doing" at home so we knew she had picked it up in the last 3 weeks in nursery. Then during story time she and Brian were looking at a book made out of pictures from the Friend and she repeated, "Je-sus" after Brian. She repeated it a few times and then said it again today. Crazy. Brian gives nursery the credit but I like to think that we laid the groundwork and nursery just gave her that extra push over the edge. Kinda like Jack-Jack's dormant powers in the Incredibles just needed that extra Mozart and flashcard stimulation to bring them out.

I love your comparison to The Incredibles. Maybe you could make up a superheor name for Colleen . . . um . . . have you seen "Mystery Men"? Because Colleen rhymes with "The Spleen," but I hope she doesn't have his powers.

I think it's pretty crazy that I thought of both the all-mighty Nursury AND the Incredibles today. (I thought of the nursery because the hardest kid I had to watch while I was called to the nursery is now a grown woman and was standing across the lobby from me. Weird.)

OH, and I think Becca gets extra kudos for mentioning The Spleen ("wanna see my shpecial powerth?") from Mystery Men. MY FAVE!

Update:
Colleen just did the sign for "more" today. I have been signing "more" at her for over 6 months. Brian gives nursery the credit again but I just wonder how many more months of signing it will take to teach her cup/water/milk.
