Three Week Old Becca

Becca was three weeks old yesterday.  At her 2 week check up she weighed 9lbs 10oz (90th percentile) and was in the 96th percentile for length.  Yep, she is big, but I expect that she will slowly go down into the 25-50th percentile like her siblings have.   The doctor also said that she has umbilical hernia but that it is not a big deal and should close up by the time she is one.

She has Brian's cowlick and eyes, my darker hair (it lightened up with all the girls) and ears.  Like all the girls she has a strong neck and can hold her head up quite well.  I like not having to worry about floppy head babies.  :)

At about 2 weeks she also started to sleep a bit better at night -- ie she started going to bed at 10  instead of midnight or later.  But...she still didn't like to sleep in her bed and would sleep next to me or on Brian's chest (preferably, for me, downstairs during the 2-5 am shift).  Then a few nights ago, I started to put her to bed in her car seat and she miraculously began to sleep for 3-4 hours at a time and Brian doesn't have to hold her as she fusses herself back to sleep.  I am still tired but things are much better.

Colleen keeps saying, "Don't you love having a baby?" and held her for about a half hour this morning while she sang and talked to her.  I had to veto Becca sitting in the little kid rocking chair for a pretend meal in the living room with Colleen.  We compromised with her laying on a blanket for a "picnic".

Aleah also loves holding Becca and Emily even enjoys holding her.  It helps that Becca doesn't spit up much.  Kate was a big spit-er and Emily refused to hold her for the first six months.  :)  Kate doesn't seem to have any problems not being "the baby" anymore and is just as daddy-loving as ever.
