Welcome Rebecca Jane!

Rebecca Jane was born on Wednesday at 1:19 pm at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.  The night before going in to be induced I was really nervous and was sure that something was going to go terribly wrong, but everything went super smoothly.

Our friend Julie came over to watch the girls and get them off to school so we could be to the hospital super early.  We had a great nurse, Laurel, who took care of us.  Between running some blood work and everything else, it was a couple of hours before we really got started.

But with no problems at all Rebecca Jane was born at 1:19pm.  I have to admit that she came out looking pretty ugly, but she has prettied up quite a bit and really reminds me of how Kate looked.

Julie came and dropped the kids off at the hospital (she wanted to see the baby too!)   This picture is one of the reasons why visits with the kids lasted only 45 minutes.  Crazy!  When we asked them what we should name the baby:  Sarah-Jane, Becca or Erin, everyone except for Emily started yelling Becca!  Becca!  Emily could be barely heard in the back ground saying, "I really like the name Erin..."

Earlier in the week when we were talking about names, Aleah had a total meltdown when we said we weren't going to name the baby Susan/Suzie or Lucy (favorite Narnia characters).  Thankfully, Aleah was all smiles at the hospital and just beamed as she held the baby.  Aren't double beds handy when everyone wants to be close to the baby?  The next night they also came for a visit and brought a great apple pie to share.

Now we are home.  Becca is sleeping as well as can be expected at night and eating great.  Welcome to the family Becca Babe!

Congratulations. I am so glad that the delivery went so smoothly and quickly, even with such a big girl. What a lovely family of girls.

Yes, yes, YES!!!! She is a dolly and I love it that (most of) your girls wanted to name her Becca. What a sweetie. Glad to see you are blogging--a good sign, right?
